Top 3 Reasons to Hire a Newborn Photographer!

My youngest son is turning ONE in just a few days. It’s amazing how the past year has flown by, and as I sit here at my desk reflecting on this past year, I look over to a collection of photos that I have hanging on my wall. One photo is of my baby, Noah, just a day old. He is so brand new in this picture, his little fingers still shriveled up. To think of how much he has changed in the past year is both exciting, and heartbreaking. Time truly flys when you have children, especially when you have a baby. I’m going to share with you a few reasons why I value newborn photography so much, and how my own experience as a mother has made me a better photographer.

1. Details! When I look at a brand new baby, my goal is to capture all of the little details. You’ll want to have tangible memories of each and every detail of your sweet babe. I know that those sweet wrinkly fingers, toes, fuzzy ears and umbilical cord stubs are all fleeting.  I also know how it feels to be sleep deprived as a mother to a newborn (Hello!!! Anyone here with me!!), and because of this your days turn into weeks and before you know it, your baby is ONE!! Thankfully, the photos I have of my brand new baby help me to be able to look back and remember all of those first few moments.
2. Memories that last a lifetime (and beyond!)  Your baby is only a newborn for a short period of time, and they change so so fast (insert me crying here!!). Photos of your brand new baby will always be important to you and your family, and gain value over time. It’s crazy to think about, but not only will these photos mean the world to you as parents, but also to your child as he grows, their future children and grandchildren!! I love being able to look back through newborn photos of my relatives. It’s amazing to see the traits that carry down from generation to generation. Newborn photographs are truly a family heirloom.
3. Capture the whole family! I know, I know!! You might THINK you don’t want to be in the photos right after you’ve given birth, and haven’t gotten a good nights sleep in days (maybe months!!) BUT I promise you, you will be beyond grateful to have photos capturing the loving connection between your entire family with the brand new baby. My goal as a photographer is to showcase connections, and I pride myself in being able to do this really well.
