This series of photos are some of my favorite photographs that I have ever captured. I get emotional just looking at them. This beautiful mama was diagnosed with cancer while she was pregnant with her second baby, Lucia. Heather’s diagnosis resulted in needing to have an emergency c-section to remove the baby and then she underwent an operation to remove as much of the cancer as they could. I had the honor of spending some time with this sweet family on the day before Heather started chemotherapy. In these photos Lucia is two weeks old and just perfect. This was the last day that Heather could breastfeed her baby before having to take a break due to the chemotherapy. I’m so glad that I could capture the amazing connection between Heather and her nursling. The love that this mama has for her children was so apparent and I feel like it shines through in these images. Please keep Heather and her family in your prayers as she begins this journey of healing.
